Everyone sees things in a different light. Even my stream lighting, webcam/mobile cam can’t capture what I see as colour, saturation and brightness, no matter how much I tweak the settings. Just like this painting will speak a different language to the one spoken to.
Upon completion I asked my audience what this painting is expressing. To some it speaks of anger and fury, to others it speaks of death and loss. To me it is relentless passion and excitement as this was my very first piece of acrylic impasto with the palette knife in over 10 years. I’ve been yearning to get back into making this art for so long. During 2010 I bought acrylic paint and palette knives and challenged myself with this form of art as a hobby and I created my first ever impasto for my mother. Though more than a decade has passed with life pushing one in all directions.
I started pulling myself back to the playful creative state I once had by starting something simple and some would say not artistic or creative enough. That was fluid acrylic in 2021.
December of 2022, I finally saved enough to invest in proper supplies to start up impasto painting again. For me this means big scale paintings as one can use your whole body’s energy into those palette strokes.
